Save any file to your SkyDrive folder and it’s automatically available from your devices, such as PC, Mac, iOS, Windows Phone, and Android, through the SkyDrive apps for these devices.

On a Windows 8 device, when you sign in with your Microsoft account that has been synced with SkyDrive, your files will automatically appear in the SkyDrive app.

Turn your entire PC into your own private cloud, using its ample storage to easily access, browse, and stream your files from anywhere by simply accessing them remotely on SkyDrive.com with a feature called "fetch".

Fetch allows you to “reach across” the Internet to access what you need from a remote PC that is running SkyDrive on the desktop.

Is it safe? In order to access a remote PC, you will have to provide a second factor of authentication, so you don’t have to worry about someone else fetching your files.

Windows 8 offers a standalone desktop app, which can be downloaded from microsoft.com, for storing and sharing files in the cloud.

SkyDrive on the Desktop provides drag-and-drop upload and download support for SkyDrive, anywhere access to your data, and the power of Windows Desktop to manage your files and folders.

If you're offline, you can still access your files. Once you’re back online, they’re uploaded immediately to the cloud. As changes are made in the cloud or on another device, they’ll sync back down to the PC.

Sharing in Windows 8 is easy: go into the SkyDrive app (on the Start screen), click the file or folder you want to share, then use the Share charm to send an email to a recipient with a link to the file or folder on SkyDrive.
