MY HEBREW PHRASE BOOK

This is your first Hebrew phrase book. It is full of words

and phrases you can use around the house and about town.

There is also a review of your Hebrew letters, and a lot of

chances to practice your Hebrew reading skills.

The chapters in this book are short. You will finish a

whole chapter in one day. Each chapter introduces a new

Hebrew word and a new phrase that uses that word. There

is also a short reading activity, plus puzzles, games and

conversations.

The first few chapters will help you review the Hebrew

letters you should have already learned. If you have never

learned to read Hebrew at all, you should probably begin

with an introductory reading book.

This is what will happen in your class each time you use

this book. First, the teacher will use flash cards to review the

words you have already learned. Next you will all go over the

phrases you know, which you will have checked off on the last

page of the book.

Then a new word and phrase will be introduced. The

reading activity that follows may be begun as a whole class, but

will probably continue with a partner. You will go on and work

either with that partner or alone on the rest of the puzzles and

games in that chapter. While you are working, the teacher will

go around answering questions and listening to each of you

read the reading exercise. If you finish the chapter quickly,

you can help out by being a tutor and listening to some of your

classmates read.
