Gospel Reflection
20th Sunday in Ordinary Time
So what does Holy Communion
really entail? How does the act of
communion with the Body and
Blood of the Lamb of God who takes
away the sin of the world affect us? For believers,
communion with Jesus, partaking of His Body and
Blood, means receiving the eternal benefits of this food.
“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has
eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.”
To enter into communion involves taking a conscious
stand on the side of grace and removing ourselves from
sin. To enter into communion with Christ means that
we are not satisfied with sin, but rather we adopt the
Death and Life of the Lamb as part of our own life.
Who of us does not know the face of pain, anguish, and
suffering? When we receive communion we share the
sacrifice of Jesus; we let His Word and His healing
invade, permeate, and save us from ourselves,
transforming our very selves into sharers in the sacrifice
of Christ for the salvation of the world.

SCHOOL NEWS
Mary, Star of the Sea
Elementary & Middle School “Achieving for Today, Preparing for Tomorrow”
The excitement is in the air, as Mary, Star of the Sea Elementary and Middle Schools
open for the 2018 - 2019 school year. On Wednesday, August 1st, students and faculty
alike had fun getting to know each other.
During the prayer service, Fr. Frankie’s message fell right in line with this year’s
Essential Question for the school … “How can small choices change our world?”
Small daily choices to follow Christ’s teachings can make a big difference when we add
it all up … one small choice a day makes 365 a year, multiplied by all the students/
faculty at MSOS, equals an exciting year ahead. Mary, Star of the Sea School realizes
the need to provide a faith enriched curriculum that prepares their students for high
school success. To learn more about our Mary, Star of the Sea Schools, we welcome
you to check out our website at starofthesea.org or come take a tour.
